Homeaglow Review: No-Shows, Extra Fees & Why We Don’t Recommend It

May 21, 2025

Prefer to listen? Us too.

At Proxy, we are constantly testing home services and professionals so that we can recommend only the best to our subscribers. We tested 8 (yes, 8!) cleaning services and found two that are now Proxy Approved. Unfortunately, Homeaglow did not make the cut. After testing Homeaglow multiple times, we don’t recommend it due to no-shows, surprise fees, and poor cancellation support.

Below, we share our full Homeaglow review as well as our standards and vetting process. I hope this Homeaglow review will help you avoid the same frustrations we experienced!

Homeaglow Review: Our Standards

homeaglow review
For home services, I need to feel comfortable having them in my home and around my children. Our current housekeeper, for example, was the one who taught our kids how to vacuum, which I love!

Over the past 15 years, I’ve fine-tuned a process for finding the best home services and professionals at the best prices. I’m less interested in how glamorous their website may be because anyone can create a pretty website with a little money, and instead, look at these 3 main things:

  1. Professionalism & Quality of Service: Do they show up on time and communicate well? Was the service completed as advertised/expected? Are they welcoming and appreciative of my business, or do they treat me like a number at the deli? Do I enjoy having them in my home?

Text Proxy once. Stop thinking about it.

Try it: “Can you plan dinners for this week based on what’s in my fridge?”

"Help me find a summer camp nearby for my 8-year-old."
  1. Communication & Customer Service: Are they easy to communicate with, do they accommodate my needs, and are they helpful at resolving problems when they arise?
  1. Return on Investment (in the form of time): Did they go above and beyond my expectations? Did they relieve me of the dread I feel when doing the task myself, or perform it faster than I could have? Did they help reduce my mental load, or did they require more energy and thought than makes it worth it to hire the service in the first place?

Homeaglow Review: Our Vetting Process

homeaglow review

Now that you know what I look for when recommending a service, here are some additional steps I take when vetting the service to ensure it meets these standards. When possible, I call the company or professional before booking to get a feel for how welcoming their tone is, and whether they are willing to answer my questions before I am a paying customer.

If a service is unwilling to talk to me before I submit an online form, then that is a knock against them in my book. I’ll still try out the service, but there is more pressure on them to provide an elevated, quality experience. I want a service that is personable and focused on ME — the client.

When I am on the phone, I ask how a service can be modified to meet my needs. I deeply appreciate when a service provider is willing to personalize their service or provide direct answers when they can’t accommodate my needs. Direct and honest feedback is worth its weight in gold and a sign of trust and respect.

“Proxy gets it done before it hits your to-do list”

- Ruqaiya Akbari, Proxy User

If there is a problem that comes up during the booking or experience, I look at how they handle it: do they respond quickly and adequately remedy the situation?

In short, I look for quality service professionals who prioritize their clients. I need to feel welcomed and respected while I’m in their care, comfortable having them around my children if it is a home service, and treated like a priority.

At Proxy, we use these high standards to vet every service that we recommend so that you don’t have to waste time and money researching services yourself. Beyond house cleaning, we have vetted numerous other services from nanny agencies to virtual assistants and meal prep companies. Homeaglow Review: What We Were Promised

homeaglow review

Homeaglow bills itself as a quality and convenient cleaning service at an affordable price. For the first cleaning, they offer a discount and only charge you $79 for 6 hours. All cleaners bring their own supplies at no extra cost. Homeaglow says they have thoroughly vetted cleaners who all pass a “rigorous certification process,” and emphasize the ease of their online booking system.

Homeaglow Review: What We Got Instead

homeaglow review
No-shows, hidden policies, and difficult-to-reach customer service made our Homeaglow experience incredibly frustrating.

Our experience with Homeaglow was filled with frustration from start to finish. The first housekeeper we booked didn’t show up twice in a row. Then, the second housekeeper showed up half an hour late, only to leave in the middle of the job because she had forgotten her child had an early pick up that day. We worked together to figure out a time she could return, but I declined once I checked her work and realized she hadn't cleaned anything thoroughly.

The 3rd housekeeper was excellent and did a fantastic job, but it took customer service weeks to resolve my complaint with the first two housekeepers. While they communicated thoughtfully, they refused to issue a refund and instead provided housekeeping credits, which we found highly unsatisfactory.

Is Homeaglow Legit? Our 1-Star Verdict

homeaglow review

The process of vetting Homeaglow was very frustrating, but worse of all, after finally completing our first housecleaning service, Homeaglow automatically enrolled us in a 6-month membership that cost $294. There was no option to cancel without paying an early cancellation fee amounting to one-third of the membership cost.

It took us four weeks to have Homeaglow acknowledge our cancellation request. Despite Homeaglow advertising an easy and convenient booking service, all communication had to be submitted via the Homeaglow App or email. There was no way to connect with Live support in the event of an issue.

All-in-all, we gave Homeaglow a 1-star review because they created a headache trying to coordinate using the service, drained our energy and time following up to get a refund, and lost all of our trust and confidence since nothing they promised matched what they did.

Homeaglow Review: What Cleaning Service We Recommend Instead

homeaglow review

We ended up testing 7 other cleaning services that all claim to be the best, including Tidy and Care.com. In the end, we only found one cleaning service that we can 100% recommend and a second that we like for party cleanup or on an as-needed basis, but not weekly cleanings. We also have a vetted housekeeper staffing agency that we recommend through Proxy if you prefer to go that route.

All the details on the national cleaning service that we recommend for regular cleanings are available to Proxy subscribers. What I can share, is that the initial booking process was a bit of a hassle, but the cleaners were punctual, professional, and friendly. When they arrived, they reviewed what they would be cleaning for the day and asked if we had any general focus areas. They did a thorough and complete job and were very mindful of time!

ChatGPT gives info.
Proxy gives next steps.

The company we recommend for party cleanup or on an as-needed basis matches you with a local house cleaner who is fully vetted, background checked, and carries liability insurance. The site is user-friendly with quick responses. The cleaner I was matched with communicated professionally throughout the entire process, including when a few issues came up, such as a late arrival and dishes not being included in the cleaning package without an additional fee.
